Adding a New Page

When the newly created report will be opened, you will be asked to add a new page to the report. You have to select the page type and fill in the name. Select the type “Table/Chart” and press «OK»:

An empty report page will appear:

There are editors on the left and on the top part of the page, and a pivot-table inside.

On the top part of the form you can see two “shelves” called “Rows” and “Columns”. On the left there is the list of dimensions, hierarchies, levels and measures.

Below the hierarchies are the levels:

You can see the levels of a hierarchy by pressing«»:

Drag the level “Category” of the hierarchy “Product Categories” on the shelf “Rows” with the help of the mouse:

Find the dimension “Date” (scroll the list to find it), and drag the level “Calendar Year” of the hierarchy “Date.Calendar” on the columns:

Now only one thing is missing – one or more measures in the table:

Thus, the simplest report is almost ready. We will add the chart using the corresponding button on the tool bar:

Let’s save this report using the toolbar icon  or the appropriate menu item. After pressing the save button you will have to locate the place where to store the report file.

Note that the report file (workbook) contains only the information about the report’s structure but not the data itself. Every time when you are opening your workbook the data will be loaded from the database that you entered in the connection settings of the report (from Analysis Services server or from the local cube).
