Microsoft Excel workbook/ CSV file as a data source
Click “New dashboard book” button in a toolbar:
A window appears, where you should write a name for the «Interactive Dashboard».
In the form that appears, select the “Microsoft Excel workbook” / “CSV” file data source:
As the next step, specify the file location:
Now specify the import parameters used to retrieve the data from the file:
The following parameters are available:
- Use values of the first row as field names – specifies whether or not to use the values of the first row as field names. If you disable this option, the field names will be generated automatically;
- Skip empty rows – whether or not to include empty rows into the resulting data source;
- Skip hidden rows – whether or not to ignore hidden lines when importing data to the data source;
- Skip hidden columns – whether or not to ignore hidden columns when importing data to the data source.
Select the needed parameters and click «Next». A form appears, in which you can select a worksheet containing the required data, a table:
During the last step you can select the columns to include them in the data source and specify their settings. In the “Name” column, you can specify a column name, and using “Type” – specify its type:
After clicking the «Finish» button, the data source is created and its fields are displayed in the data source browser:
